The 20 member artists are dedicated to advancing the arts in Westminster as well as the careers, ideas, and artistic visions of its members. Off Track Art is an artists' collective and gallery located in the historic Liberty Building at 11 Liberty Street next to the railroad tracks and just off of the Sentinel parking lot at the corner of West Main St and Liberty Street in downtown Westminster, Maryland.Currently, selections include original oils, acrylics, photography, pottery, bronze sculpture, hand forged ironwork, and much more. The viewing of the exhibitions is free of charge. The college also hosts opening receptions for selected exhibitions, which are open to the public and college community. The sky-lit gallery, with an upper tier, provides an ambiance that enhances multimedia displays.
The Langdon Family Gallery is an intimate space devoted to the work of individual artists. Exhibits in the Great Hall Gallery generally focus on county and state groups and highlight the diverse nature of their work. The cathedral ceiling of the Great Hall Gallery provides the natural and diffused light that artists love. Scott Center for the Fine and Performing Arts is a new and beautifully designed space dedicated to the exhibition of exciting contemporary works by artists of regional as well as national renown. The college holds these exhibitions in three venues. Students & Celebrated Artists: Carroll Community Collegeīetween September and May each year, Carroll Community College, 1601 Washington Road, hosts art exhibitions in a variety of media and styles by students and regional and nationally celebrated visual artists. In addition to featured exhibits, the Albert and Eva Blum Collection of Art from Five Continents is on continuous display. Exhibits include paintings, mixed media, sculpture and photography. The title, Lemen Bros. The Esther Prangley Rice Gallery in Peterson Hall on the McDaniel College campus hosts exhibits of local, regional and national artists, as well as McDaniel faculty and students. The show was closely identified with Kansas for years it wintered in Dodson and Argentine of that state. The galleries are open: Both of these fundraisers present very unique works of art that raise funds for the on-going operation of the Arts Center. In addition to hosting exhibits of fine local and regional art, these galleries also serve as the main display areas for the Carroll Arts Center’s two main fundraisers - The Festival of Wreaths and The Peep Show. But, we just have to see where things are a year from now.Local art displays in Westminster can be seen almost anywhere from the walls of Main Street shops and restaurants to tucked inside government office buildings and educational institutions however, the official ones are located below.Ģ of the most visible art galleries in Westminster are the Tevis and Community galleries located in the Carroll Arts Center at 91 West Main Street. It’s not the most efficient, definitely easier at our building. We’ve had to rent U-Hauls to move all our stuff here. Logistically as a staff, it’s much easier to do at the Arts Center. “It’s not a perfect scenario either way,” said Morley, who didn’t want to commit to next year’s PEEPshow plans just yet. Going from close to 3,000 square feet of space, at Carroll Arts Center, to roughly 15,000 at the mall ― and having the exhibit entirely on flat ground rather than multiple levels ― should go a long way in determining whether this year’s PEEPshow is a hit. That dollar amount went down in a big way last year amid the pandemic, but Morley and Thackston said they hope the arts council enjoys an uptick in 2021. Past shows attracted around 25,000 or so people, and many years brought in some $100,000 in fundraising.

Many pieces in the exhibit are also for sale, and they’re noted along the route.įor those who don’t want to touch anything but still be in-person, each exhibit has a QR code associated with it and people can use their smartphones to vote that way.īecause of the entire PEEPshow being virtual last year, Morley said she’s hopeful the public comes out in solid numbers to see the artwork. Morley and Rosalyn Thackston, retail and marketing coordinator at the arts council, said chips will be sanitized regularly after people cast their votes in person.
